![]() | The MIAN is located at 561 Cosme Velho Street, in a large house from the 19th century surrounded by centenary mango trees in an area of more than 1.000 square/meters just 30 meters away from the train station that leads to Corcovado. |
The MIAN gathers the largest and most complete collection of naive art in the world that compiles the history of naive art; over 6.000 works by painters from all the states in Brazil and from more than 100 different countries, dating from the 15th century to present days. |
A place for culture and leisure... |
The MIAN now offers a variety of attractions for visitors: Simultaneous exhibits, both permanent and temporary, showing works by national and international naive artists; |
The "Artist Store" where visitors find works by very renowned naive artists as well as catalogs, prints, posters, post cards and many objects with naive motifs; The "Café MIAN", a cozy gastronomic facility and a place for leisure; Guided visits followed by lectures, cultural tea parties, tropical cocktails, can be booked in advance; |
A variety of art courses in the "atelier" next to the garden for those who are interested in developing their artistic or artisan skills. |
School visits. |
A series of thematic exhibits with explicative texts are offered all year long.
Booked school visits are tutored by a guide,recreational instructor or a story-teller and include creative activities or picnic. |
Association with the City Hall |
The City Hall supports the activities at MIAN through the Municipal Secretariat for Culture and the Municipal Guard provides security for the Museum. In exchange for this support from City Hall, the MIAN promotes exhibits of its collections in different public facilities. |
